This week on #FacesofFavour, we have the honor of featuring nationally recognized nutrition expert, Maya Feller. Maya is dedicated to promoting nutrition education that helps her clients make informed food choices that support health & longevity. She is known for sharing her real-food based solutions through regular speaking engagements, her writing, and as a national nutrition expert on Good Morning America. Check out the full Q+A below! 

Q: Tell us who you are, where you’re from, and what you do.

A:  I'm Maya Feller, and I'm an RD based in Brooklyn, New York. I work with people to reduce their risk of developing diet-related chronic illness as well as ones who have a diagnosis and are looking for nutrition support to manage their condition.

Q: How would your friends describe you?

A: Close friends would say I'm funny and love to have a good time. They would also say I care deeply about equity so can be serious when it comes to injustice.

Q: What's one thing you're passionate about? 

A: Nutrition and wellness being accessible to all people. In the US, the healthcare system is broken and has been for a long time. Many people don't have access to affordable quality patient centered healthcare. As an RD, I work to provide culturally sensitive patient centered nutrition care.

Q: What does self-care look like to you? How do you take time for yourself?

A: These days it's long runs on the weekends with my kids. They ride their bikes and I happily run alongside. It's incredibly simple but I am grateful for their health and mine AND to be able to spend time together. 

Q: How have you integrated Favour into your everyday routine, and  when do you use Favour?

A: Now that I'm working remotely I spend the majority of each day on a computer or telephone. I find that by mid-afternoon my shoulders and neck are tight from looking at a screen. I've added Favour gum into my afternoon to help relax my body so that I can continue working. 

Q: What are some of your at-home wellness tips right now?

A: Making time for sleep and deep-breathing.

Q: What's your current favorite song?

A: I've been loving afrobeats.

Q: How do you do yourself a Favour?

A: Spending time with my family and laughing!
